The Sabbath- One Holy Day in Seven
“In keeping the Sabbath Day holy, we reserve one day in seven as His. It is our privilege to consecrate time to Him who lends us life each day.” –Russell M. Nelson
The Sabbath is truly my one day in seven where I can renew, recommit, and repent. How better I feel when I keep His day holy and observe it as the Lord intended.
It is not a day of play…a day of pajama wearing…a day to do “thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure” (Isaiah 58: 13-14). The Holy Sabbath is a day set aside by God to honor Him, humble ourselves, take a good look at our priorities, and then change what needs to be changed. As we obey these principles of the Sabbath Day, we will be promised sweet simple blessings from a merciful God who loves each one of us and that defy all of our expectations.
The scriptures below say it MUCH better than I do.
I am so grateful for this one holy day in seven.
“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?”
(Isaiah 58:6)
“Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the lord shall be thy rereward.”
“Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.”
“…then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:”
“And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”
(Isaiah 58: 8-11)
